Abstract :
In the era of image processing, digital image processing potentially provides possible, reliable and acceptable solution through the use of edge detection technique. Edge is one of the basic characteristics of the image, which carries the vital information of image. This paper presents the use of edge detection algorithm combined with thresholding, algorithm simplified in such a way that the desired parameters such as radius, area and other dependent dimensional parameters of selected objects could successfully be determined. Further, the pixel intensity of image plays role in feature extraction and object detection. Thresholding of image is one of the important and unavoidable steps and necessary for conversion of any kind of images either colored or black and white. The fundamental concepts and theory of image thresholding is used to calculate various parameters. It was found that the estimated parameters were highly approximating the actual values and resulted in good agreement with the proposed algorithm.
