Abstract :
Acoustic resonances are observed in high-pressure discharge lamps operated with ac input modulated power frequencies in the kHz range. This paper describes an optical acoustic resonance detection method for HID lamps using computer controlled webcams and image processing software. Quality indexes are proposed to evaluate lamp performance and experimental results are presented.
