Abstract :
The application of genetic algorithms (GAs) to the design optimization of electromagnetic devices is presented. The method is applied to a magnetizer to design its pole face. Optimization is sought to achieve a desired magnetic flux density distribution in the device. The shape of the pole face is constructed from the control points by means of uniform nonrational b-splines. The results obtained signify the efficiency of the method
