Abstract :
Communication in the electric power substation is very crucial for the entire power network reliability. This paper investigates the opportunities offered by the Ethernet technology and proposes a new Ethernet based substation communication network (SCN) architecture for fast and reliable communication as required by monitoring, protection and control functions in an electric power substation.
