  • Abstract
Presents a subband coder based on an analysis-by-synthesis adaptive differential pulse code modulation (AS-ADPCM) algorithm for coding of high quality music signals at 110.25 kbps. The novelty of this scheme is that, during encoding, the ADPCM codeword is determined from a trained codebook by minimizing the mean square error between the original and decoded signals. Simulation results show that 4 dB improvement on SNR can be achieved by using the analysis-by-synthesis technique
