Abstract :
Application services, in particular MMS (manufacturing message specification), are now available in local area networks used in flexible manufacturing systems. The time performance of these services, however, is not specified. A behavior model for the services is proposed. This model can be implemented on top of the application layer to improve the service provided to the user. The adjustment of parameters and the use of the model in a research project to create a new flexible cell are briefly presented
