Abstract
This paper reports on the performance evaluation of a wedge-connector type for service-drop applications in electrical overhead lines. This connector uses a new design concept in which both components are mechanically compliant, including the wedge. The development and associated performance evaluations of the connector were carried out jointly by one of Brazil´s largest power utility companies, located in the Minas Gerais state, and one of its connection systems suppliers. The paper focuses on the performance evaluation of the connector under severe test conditions using an alternative test program recommended by a Brazilian national committee for power distribution
