Abstract :
Various attempts have been made by the Indonesian government to collect data on the mineral resources from the local government through the application of National Geographic Information System (GIS) of Mineral Resources called SIGNAS but with limited results due to various constraints. The constraints include the absence of written regulation that the local government should fill SIGNAS application, the existence of regional autonomy law, the lack of infrastructure in districts, the lack of competent human resources in the field of GIS, the absence of GIS data integration between the various sectors such as mining and forestry, as well as with overlapped mining permit. In this case, the information technology application of web-based GIS is needed to share and to integrate mineral resources information between central and local governments. In developing mineral resources, data and information integration needs to use geospatial web services technology using OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standardization and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) concept. This study focuses on introduction and prototype development of geospatial web service using OGC standardization and SOA Concept. The objectives are integrating and sharing Indonesia´s mineral resources information between central and local governments through a web GIS portal so that the information can be useful for decision makers, as well as investors and public stakeholders. This prototype of web-GIS can generate more user-friendliness, cost efficiency and interoperability than the existing system.
