Abstract
Air- or vehicle-borne ultra-wide band synthetic aperture radar (UWB SAR) has the capability to detect landmines over large area from a standoff distance quickly, which is the trend of landmine detection. The study of electromagnetic characteristic of landmine is eagerly required to improve the landmine detection performance. In this paper, simulation and measurement of UWB SAR subsurface metallic landmine images are compared. Simulation and measurement results both show that metallic landmines have double-peak characteristic, which is valuable for landmine detection
