Abstract
The energy consumption of a standard 3.5 inch Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is on the order of 10 Watts, a laptop runs on approximately 50 Watts. This doesn´t sound very much but considering the huge number of HDD´s and laptops around it is certainly advisable to look among other things for energy saving possibilities.
