Title :
The electric ship integration initiative - an overview
Author :
Carpentier, Kevin
Abstract :
An initiative for robust control and reconfiguration of shipboard electric power systems is underway that combines long-term research and education objectives. The electric ship initiation initiative (ESII) team brings together the programs and resources of leading electric power research institutions to develop near- to mid-term electric ship concepts. Specific focus on the development and implementation of a new educational curriculum for scientists, engineers and naval officers provides an essential theme for the education and research program. This collaborative initiative involves 10 projects that are integrated with research throughout various thrust areas required to Held a new generation of more agile, robust, and cost-effective naval presence.
