Abstract
Autonomous aerial refueling autopilot design is addressed in this paper using a novel L1 neural network based adaptive control approach. The main advantage of the new approach is its ability to guarantee transient performance with desired specifications for system´s both input and output signals by systematic choice of design parameters. Simulation results for a fighter aircraft model illustrate the benefits of this control approach
