Abstract
Future personal and mobile services will require high capacities to be handled by microcell networks. The paper describes the special characteristics of microcellular propagation when the base station antenna (BSA) is below the roof tops. BSA height influence and depolarisation are analysed. The diffraction influence on impulse response is examined. Using uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) the diffracted behaviour of corners is investigated. Especially the power carried by reflected and diffracted rays is analysed using simulations. Accurate approximations are found and a new analytical path loss model is proposed
