Abstract :
To deal with the problems of complicated process, difficult operation and low efficiency for large-scale complex products assembly, a new virtual assembly environment system (VAES) is proposed, which applies virtual reality (VR) technology in the process of assembly planning and training. Considering human activity during assembly planning of those products, a free-walking perception machine is developed to realize operator´s free movement in virtual environment (VE). Aiming at the immersive display of the system, a new approach is proposed to quickly generate stereo video, thus to improve real-time stereo projection display. Moreover, the process of man-machine interactive technique is discussed, which adopts a method of interactive operation based on geometrical constraint. The system is applied in the process of satellite assembly, the result of test shows the related research and application is feasible.
