Abstract
Presents a new assignment method which has been developed by the author and has been used since the end of 1992 for the design of the frequency plan of the German GSM-Network D1 operated by the DeTeMobil. The new method aims to optimize the interference situation in cellular radio networks under the main constraint of satisfying the frequency demand of every base station using only allowed frequencies. DETECON (Bonn, Germany) has applied for an international patent for the method
