Abstract :
The electric vehicle (EV) effects neither local tailpipe nor remarkable noise emissions. However, questions of global ecological consequences of wide-scale EV battery charging still have not thoroughly been answered. They are decisively influenced by the implementation of a charging infrastructure and the applied charging strategy. Besides, structure and operation of the public power supply system-e.g. its generation units using different primary energy and causing different costs-are significant for assessment. This paper represents some results of a comprehensive investigation in order to fill this gap by evaluating different battery charging strategies and their effects on the power supply system
