Abstract :
Summary form only given. The authors describe an electrophysiologic system based on a high-performance personal computer with a high-resolution graphics monitor. This system is designed to replace all conventional equipment like the multichannel tape recorder, high-speed paper recorder, and analog monitors. The features of the system include: (1) full integration of all processes, such as stimulation, recording, measurement, administration, and offline processing of data; (2) real-time high-quality nonfading display of data from up to 24 leads; (3) temporary storage of the last 12 s of high-resolution signals; and (4) flexible hardware and software. Continuous hard-disk storage of all channels at a sampling rate of 1 kHz is under development. This system has been in use for more than one year for arrhythmia surgery and in an animal electrophysiological research laboratory
