Abstract :
The paper broadly reviews power resistor technology with respect to applications, cost, packaging etc. The applications of particular interest today include motor braking, DC grading, snubbing and current/surge limiting. The paper then goes on to explain developments in resistor technology, in particular thick film power resistors.
