Abstract
Deutsche Telekom reports on its experience in laboratory tests, field trials and the daily use of more than 40 biometric systems during the last three years. It turns out that there are some unavoidable problems in biometrics, for example that for each biometric method there are always persons who cannot use the method. Furthermore, some aspects of user acceptance of biometric methods are referred to and some hints are given on raising the security level of biometric methods.
