Abstract :
The main purpose of this paper is to propose an additional and different mode of operation for the HF transmitting loop antenna and to predict and give some initial evidence that this mode is usually the dominant mode of operation. This dipole mode has a polarisation and radiation pattern which differs significantly from the normal loop mode. However, this difference can in practice be expected to be less apparent in the confined environment of typical deployment and operation
