Abstract :
The authors outline the major trends in analog integrated signal processing. It is noted that A/D and D/A converters are becoming the dominant analog components in major systems, and converters that rely on digital postprocessing and error correction are becoming increasingly popular. Though the relative volume of analog integrated circuits continues to shrink, their importance is actually growing, as higher-speed and more complex digital integrated circuits require more advanced analog interfaces. Present evidence and current trends demonstrate that analog interface circuits will continue to evolve as long as integrated circuit technology continues to advance
