Abstract :
The current and future demands on greatly reduced emissions from motor vehicles will lead to a new technology and solutions for engine control systems. This article describes the ideas and new requirements, from a production point of view, on software for engine control systems which have been developed while working on the Volvo 850 Turbo. The vehicle is equipped with a new engine, a 5 cylinder (in line) 2.3 liter, a control system from Robert Bosch GmbH (Motronic M4.3), and an automatic gearbox with a control system from AISIN AW Co. Ltd
