Abstract
The features of the first-order sea clutter in a shipborne bistatic high frequency surface wave radar (HFSWR) are analyzed. Some formulas of the first-order Bragg frequency are firstly presented derived from the radar geometry, and then the broadening mechanism of the first-order spectrum is discussed. The distributions of the first-order peaks are represented by computer simulations. The processing results of experimental data confirm partially the theoretic analysis. Finally, the author discusses the seeming conflicts between theoretic and experimental results
