Abstract :
This paper investigates the performance of the packet reservation multiple access protocol in terms of the packet dropping probability of speech packets. Capture is considered where the desired (test) packet is a BPSK modulated signal suffering from Rician fading and the near-far effect. The test packet is transmitted on an additive white Gaussian noise channel where it receives interference from other BPSK modulated packets which are assumed to suffer from Rayleigh fading and the near-far effect
