Abstract :
In future wireless and mobile networks, the users will have the capability to access to multiple networks via multi-mode terminal. Therefore there is a need to have mechanisms in place to decide which radio access network (RAN) is the most suitable for the user and for every application that the user requires. The decision is complex because it has to be made according to the multiple attributes both in network side and user side. To address these issues, we propose a user-centric intelligent solution by making the modifications in the classical multiple attribute decision making (MADM) technique and introducing the utility function in the selection procedure. The proposed solution achieves the well trade-off among network condition, user preference, and service application and benefits both the users and RANs.
