Abstract
We have studied the impact of error-correction coding on multiple-cell and peer-to-peer packet radio networks employing ALOHA and CSMA medium access control protocols. Our methods included detailed analysis of BER for BPSK in the presence of multiple interfering signals and simple equilibrium models for ALOHA performance in non-fading and fading radio environments. The results predict improvements for modest coding (rate>2/3)
