Abstract :
The electric arc furnace has been widely used in steel-making and carbide production. In the paper, the analysis of the construction of the CEAF and the procedure of the carbide production is considered first, then the design methodology of an event-based intelligent control system is presented for the electrode positioning control of the CEAF. With the output we make an energy or current balance among the three-phase electrode. As a fundamental work the essential part of the design procedure of a variable-universe fuzzy logic control method is presented. Finally, we compare its step-response with other conventional controllers such as a well-tuned PID controller and the common fuzzy logic controller. The simulation results show an improved performance of this system
