Abstract :
Although data transfer using carrier frequency technology on high voltage cables has been in use since about 1920, digital data transfer over widely-branching medium voltage networks have not been successful until ninetieths. The main reason for this is the fast and complex digital modulation types which only became reliable via today´s fast signal processors. One of today´s famous systems in the field of DLC (DISTRIBUTED LINE CARRIER) used in transferring data over (MV) medium voltage underground and overhead cables, is SIEMENS DCS3000 (distributed communication system). By this technology, data transfer can occurs directly on the underground MV cables shields. The modulated digital signal on the MV cable is physically imposed on it through capacitive or inductive couplers
