Abstract :
The performance improvement of maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) receivers operated in flat fading wireless cellular communication channels is investigated. The modified receiver structure uses a channel classification method based on a decision variable obtained from multiple traffic bursts. By formulating the decision variable using the F-distribution, analytic expressions for the performance of the proposed channel classification method is derived. Simulation results are also given for the misclassification probabilities and the receiver bit error rate (BER)
