Abstract
In today´s world of resource intensive research, the need for enough processing power for students and researchers remains unfulfilled. There might be a scarcity of these resources but at the same time there is also wastage of CPU cycles on almost all computers. Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETS) are being rigorously studied and researched by computer scientists all over the world and the Message passing interface (MPI) has become the `de facto´ standard for use in high-performance computing. This paper explains the use of MPI in MANETS to build an education/research centric network architecture where each node in the network can use unused/partially reserved CPU cycles of other nodes in the network to carry out research in an affordable manner without the need of any high end infrastructure, It also explains the scope of improvement in this architecture by new technologies and emerging paradigms.
