  • Abstract
    A new full-vectorial finite element method (FEM) approach completely free of spurious modes for analyzing photonic structures is presented. The new formulation incorporates the divergence-free condition into the vectorial wave equation, producing a highly well-conditioned and straightforward modal-analysis algorithm.
