Abstract :
The co-channel interference protection ratio is a particularly important parameter within cellular systems. Not only does the protection ratio influence their spectral efficiency, but also sums up all techniques which can improve the signal quality at the receiver output and accounts for all hazardous conditions which can impair the signal quality. This paper is a serious attempt to argue for and outline a `standard´ and systematic subjective test and a set of `standard´ procedures by which the protection ratio for various systems can be evaluated
