Abstract :
We describe the design, fabrication and characterization of a waveguide wavelength splitter - a generic on-chip coarse wavelength-division (de)multiplexing solution for regrowth-free multi-guide vertical integration in InP. The splitter operation is based on a combination of wavelength selective vertical transfer between optical waveguides stacked one above the other in a descending order of their guiding core bandgap and lateral re-routing of the vertically transferred wavelength(s).
