Abstract :
The method aims at providing methods and tools for Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS). These methods and tools are automated as far as possible in a planning tool software. The approach is a forward and synthetic one, i.e. the cell configuration is the main output of the software tool. This approach is led by the user´s requirements, i.e. the fulfilment of quality of service parameters for UMTS. The cell planning process begins by analysing geographical environments and traffic densities. This analysis is completed by applying synthetic rules for the generation of a cellular configuration to fulfil the requirements in terms of quality of service, cost of the solution and use of the spectrum
