Abstract :
A novel axial field variable flux permanent magnet synchronous machine (AFVFPMSM) with mechanical device is introduced in this paper, of which the losses are studied by finite element analysis (FEA). The results show that total iron losses can be reduced due to the displaced rotors of this new type machine at the high-speed operation.
