Abstract :
It is pointed out that ferroelectric memories clearly promise the combination of non-volatility, write-cycle endurance, and operating speed needed for a broad range of applications. Some potential applications for ferroelectric memories are obvious. For example, they can be used to replace the heavier core memories used in such applications as flight data recorders. They can be used in place of EEPROMs in navigation computers and in targeting systems. They could also be used to create non-volatile shift-registers for sensor systems to support data comparison at the sensor. Another possibility would be in the storage of neuron values in a neural network. The basic ferroelectric structure is examined, and ferroelectric reliability is discussed
