Abstract :
This work was aimed to investigate new type laser diodes incorporating distributed confocal gratings. The devices exhibited single-longitudinal mode operation with a side-mode suppression ratio of over 30 dB and a laterally focused beam for focal lengths around 0.5 mm. These laser sources will be suitable for applications requiring both spectrally and spatially enhanced beam quality.
