  • Abstract
A linear pulse motor (LPM) can operate in an open-loop control mode similarly to a rotary stepper motor, and therefore serves as an effective positioning actuator when used in conjunction with digital electronic control circuits. The linear motion without any mechanical linkage in the LPM results in several advantages for precise positioning actuators. The LPM has large thrust in small input power and slight displacement compared with other linear motors. However, the LPM has a large transient vibration, and it sometimes causes out-of-step operation. Hence it is required that the LPM has overspecification compared with demanded specification for several applications. Many analyses of static characteristics have been made until now but analyses of dynamic characteristics are not enough. In this paper, a simple vibration suppression method for the LPM is proposed. The effects of the proposed method are analyzed using an equivalent circuit and a kinetic equation, and examined using a flat type LPM
