Abstract
In this paper, the rotor eddy current losses in no load condition and load condition were calculated by the software MagNet for two 10 kW, 14000 r/min permanent magnet brushless DC(PM BLDC) motors whose rotor sleeves material are carbon-fiber and stainless steel respectively. And then, the prototype machines were fabricated and tested. It is shown that the carbon-fiber is superior to stainless steel in terms of reducing rotor losses and raising efficiency.
