Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of different Slot-Pole combinations for single-sided fractional-slot Permanent Magnet linear motors (PMLSM) with concentrated windings. For 16 kinds of Slot-Pole Combinations such as 9 slots/8 poles and 9 slots/10 poles and other, the finite element method (FEM) is used to analysis the detent force and thrust of PMLSM. On the base of FEM model, the relationships between the detent force, average thrust force, thrust ripple and slot-pole combinations are investigated. By comparative analysis in detail, the optimal designs of slot-pole combinations of PMLSM with fractional slots are got based on lowest detent force/thrust ripple.
