  • Abstract
The impact of the relative optical phase in OTDM signals on long-distance transmission was investigated. The best transmission performance was obtained with CS-RZ signals having a phase difference of π. OTDM CS-RZ generation was found to have a large bias tolerance for pulse formation. We have also compared the transmission performance between the OTDM and conventional CS-RZ signals and confirmed fundamentally no difference in performance. These results indicate the superiority of OTDM CS-RZ generation for practical applications.
