Abstract :
A mobile terminal localization experiment using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) carrying an angle-of-arrival array antenna was conducted in 2006. The UAV was a prototype stage in the development of a high-altitude long endurance platform (HALE). This UAV was used for the mobile terminal localization experiment because detecting the positions of mobile terminals is considered to be one of the fundamental applications for future High Altitude Platform (HAP) systems. The localization experiment is described in this paper, and the post-processing results obtained to date are given and discussed.
