  • Abstract
This paper introduces the design and control of a novel single phase tubular permanent magnet linear motor. With the finite element method and the FLUX software, the inductance waveform and the magnetic circuit at the special position are analyzed thoroughly. Although the conventional bridge power converter topology is used in the paper, the direction of the electric current is defined uniquely which also considers the magnetic field direction of the permanent magnet material. Based on the mechanical equations and the corresponding electromagnetic field equations for this topology of the motor, an outer frequency loop and an inner current loop are integrated for the stable output capability with a referred frequency. The outer loop adopts proportional-integral control algorithm to control the mover´s oscillatory frequency and the inner current loop applies the fuzzy control to track the current reference value which is the output of the outer frequency loop. A reciprocation oscillatory motor platform is established and the main current waveform is gathered in experimental program. Meanwhile, the experimental results verify the feasibility and correctness of the designed novel single phase tubular permanent magnet linear motor and the proposed strategy.
