Abstract :
Geospatial Information System is one of the key technologies for the establishment of Digital Earth. Especially with the development of digital photogrammetry and high resolution commercial remote sensing image technology, the system will be needed by different users which related to geospatial information, and also can be used to open a very wide market for the geospatal application in near future. According to the newly need and trend for geospatial information, the authors established an experimental geospatial information system named Digital Tsinghua University based on digital photogrammetry, Global Positioning System, and network system technology. The system is composed of the digital elevation model, three dimensional buildings, road network, and other useful information of Tsinghua University. Users can view and inquiry different true spatial information via a system menu interface. The method also with the ability to integrate USA IKONOS 1 meter resolution remote sensing image with image fusion technology. Although Digital Tsinghua University is a small area which compared to Digital Earth, it is a true three dimensional information system rather than traditional geographic information system. With this system, different users can easily use it for virtual spatial management, analysis, planning, and also can use it for virtual reality tourism, etc. Since high resolution commercial remote sensing image will be used widely in near future, the authors gave some discussion for the information renew according to IKONOS 1 meter resolution remote sensing image
