Abstract
We propose Psiactive routing as a new class for intelligent and highly integrated route discovery and maintenance based on a powerful sensing and prediction philosophy and its methods. Psiactive routing (ΨRt) is targeted towards mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) but application to other networks could also prove very useful, ΨRt fuses key information from multiple network layers (or planes) as is necessary to accomplish reliable prediction of future required routes and the maintenance of existing and future routes. In this paper, Psiactive network architecture and simulation results for ΨRt demonstrating the capabilities of a predictive approach to mobile ad hoc network routing are included. The paper concludes with simulation results consistently showing throughput and real-time response advantages of Psiactive routing over selected representative "conventional" MANET routing approaches.
