Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present comparative study of two direct torque control (DTC) methods, termed as voltage space vector control (VSVC) and direct instantaneous torque control (DITC), for a 3-phase, 6/4 switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive. The basic principles and formulas of these two control methods are also presented and a comparative study by developing simulation models based on conventional asymmetric half-bridge converter for the SRM drive is made. The simulation results of responses to torque step and flux step show that these two control methods can quickly track the command torque and effectively suppress the torque ripple of SRM drive. The differences between the two control methods are also discussed.
