Abstract :
Image interpolation arises in many applications as for example image resolution conversion, photograph zooming, image coding, etc. Although many interpolation methods exist, a lot of them decrease the sharpness of the original image. In this paper, we suggest a modification of a traditional interpolation method (B-Spline) which improves the sharpness of the resulting images with a small additional computational cost. The modification is based on the combination of conventional interpolation with an enhancement algorithm, which increases the sharpness of edges. The enhancement algorithm is based on a nonlinear partial differential equation and takes advantage of the properties of B-Spline functions
