Abstract
This paper discusses the influence of periodic carrier frequency modulation (PCFM) on inverter loss of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system. Sinusoidal PCFM and sawtooth PCFM are theoretically analyzed. The power spectral density of fixed frequency pulse width modulation (FFPWM) and sinusoidal PCFM and sawtooth PCFM are also investigated. The conduction loss and switching loss of IGBT and antiparallel diode are theoretically discussed to calculate inverter loss with FFPWM and PCFM. IGBT and antiparallel diode loss of FFPWM and PCFM are simulated based on Saber to discuss the impact of PCFM on inverter loss. Simulation results validate that PCFM does not influence the inverter efficiency of PMSM drive system.
