Abstract
One of important methods to save energy in high speed train is replacing the induction traction motors with PM synchronous motors (PMSMs). Compared with the induction motors, the PMSMs are more sensitive to the temperature rise and harmonics of magnetic density, which are deeply influenced by the switching frequency limited by the converter loss in practice. In this paper, the co-simulation models are erected combining the finite element (FE) model of motors and control system. It can calculate iron loss considering motor harmonics components and nonlinearity of magnetic circuit. Based on these models, the system performances are simulated under the single-pulse control method, which has the lowest switching frequency and the carrier ration is only one. The influence on power loss of silicon steel sheets in stator is investigated. It´s shown the low loss one can lower the power loss effectively. Finally, the performances under SVPWM power supply with different switching frequencies are compared with those under the single-pulse control in high and low speed area. The power losses are also analyzed.
