Abstract :
This paper presents a design of novel 2-phase 4/3 switched reluctance motor (SRM) for air-blower applications. The rotor of the proposed motor uses a uniform air gap to overcome the torque dead-zone that exists in the 2-phase motor type. The proposed motor can rotate only one direction. This motor type is suitable for unidirectional rotation applications as air blower in this paper. The proposed 4/3 SRM uses short flux path technique that achieved by means of winding configuration and lamination geometry. The purpose of short flux path is to reduce the core loss and the absorption MMF in the stator.
